You Are My Finish Line | Rose & Peter

“Every athlete has his or her specific goals and reasons for racing in whatever event he or she chooses. But overall, most would agree, that the journey to the finish line is what resonates most in their mind.” ~Wayne Kurtz

When I first met with Rose and Pete, I quickly learned that the two had a great love for each other and the outdoors. But I had no idea, to what extent and dedication they put into their extra-curricular activities!

Rose’s three children and Pete are Rose's biggest supporter. And with that sort of family encouragement, it's no wonder she is the current first place finisher for women in the Anvil Double Ironman competition! Just looking at her, you would never know her fierce competitive nature and intense determination. She has such a delicate, feminine appearance, and that coupled by her profession as a doctor…..who would have thought she could be such a BEAST!

Arriving on horseback the day of her wedding was another goal Rose set for herself. Although many cautioned her on all the reasons why she shouldn't, she proved everyone wrong and absolutely nailed it with style!

The photos captured on Rose and Peter's wedding day are not only captivating, but also tell a beautiful story. A story of love and victory!

Jessica & Jason – An Uptown Engagement

This fun, energetic, loving couple wanted to have an urban, romantic engagement shoot in uptown Charlotte. With rain clouds brewing off in the distance, it held off long enough to allow us to trek all over the city to get some fun shots! They were such naturals with posing and you can just see the love they have for one another. Such a sweet couple. Their wedding will be next year in New York.

Mimi & Trey’s Wedding Day

Mimi and Trey are two extremely sweet people who also have the world’s best smiles. I couldn’t have been happier to photograph their wedding last month! Their wedding day fell on National Star Wars Day (May the Fourth Be With You), so they completed the experience with a light sabers guard and Princess Leia and Hans Solo cake toppers! 😀

For more details, here is the link to my own personal blog post featuring images of Mimi and Trey's offbeat wedding:

Allison & Yaphet

“Yaphet and I met five years ago at a college dive bar in Boston called The Kells. We were both out with our groups of friends and didn't really want to be there. I saw him from across the room because we were the two tallest people in there. We made eye contact but I was too shy to approach him. Fast forward to the end of the night, and a few vodka tonics later. I went up to him (he says I pinched his butt but I don't remember that), started a conversation and we exchanged numbers. Who would have thought? Meeting a handsome, amazing man at a bar?!

The proposal was simple and sweet, I was eating hummus at home and he slid a box over to me. He chose the date, July 18th of last year, because it was his anniversary of being in the United States (from Ethiopia) – I forget how many years- around 13 years. – Allison

007 Engagement Shoot

Album story by Samantha Eckhaus

Kathryn and Andrew are an active couple with personalities larger than life. During their 007 engagement shoot, the two were laughing, joking and even throwing water at one another. Casa Feliz in Downtown Winter Park was the perfect spot for these sneaky spies. Their wedding is coming up November 1st!

Nationally published, wedding and portrait photographer, Samantha Eckhaus specializes in beautifully capturing love stories and portraits. Conveniently located in the Central Florida area, Samantha offers photography throughout the state.

Samantha has been a professional photographer for over three years and incorporates a very natural, simple, and clean feel to her work. She shoots in an unobtrusive way preferring to be in the background, creatively documenting the story you want to tell of your special day. Samantha’s work has been published nationally, featured on blogs and in magazines. She also works for a state wide magazine publication, The New Barker, as a photojournalist.

When Samantha isn’t photographing, she enjoys spending time with her beloved horse Sir Oso and volunteering with Florida TRAC, a non-profit thoroughbred adoption program. | Central Florida 32789

Baseball Wedding Styled Photo Shoot

“Take me out to the ball game” is a phrase that has been a part of my life for many years! I love the idea of creating a dream wedding at a stadium filled with all the elements of baseball and a wedding…at the same time! We had the privilege of doing this photo shoot at the Tennessee Smokies Stadium with the blessing of General Manager Brian Cox.

Imagine having your wedding ceremony on the field and the scoreboard lit up just for you! These are some of the fun picture elements that can be incorporated; Home Plate…The Dugout… The Pitchers Mound!

Following the ceremony, your First Dance takes place on top of the Dugout! After pictures, the chance to watch the game and to grab some kettle corn & rock candy appetizers with your friends in the stands is too much fun!

The casual Reception is a time for the Bride & Groom to change into their fun clothes! The guests casually eat as they socialize and watch their favorite team!! “Take me out to the crowd.”

The menu is ballpark food with a twist served at one of the concession stands:

Pigs in a Pretzel;
Kettle Corn & Rock Candy bags

“Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks,”

Turkey Sliders with Mango Chipotle Aioli and Power Greens
Cilantro Slaw
Fresh Summer Fruit
Crudités Cups

“I don't care if I ever get back..”

The sweets and favors are served on another piece of the ballpark displays and include:

RC Cola & Moon Pies
Baby Ruth's & Cracker Jacks

“For its root, root, root for the home team; if they don't win it's a shame..”

Carrot Cake and Chocolate Cupcakes with White Chocolate Buttercream Frosting!

When it's time for the Bride and Groom to depart they leave under the player lifted baseball bats in classic baseball fashion!

What a great day at the ballpark!!

“and it's 1-2-3 strikes you're out at the Ol' Ballgame!”

Bury the Bourbon Session

Story by Casey Rose Photography. We met on August 13th -exactly one month before Khrissy and Jason's wedding date- to bury a bottle of bourbon on the grounds of their wedding site. The tradition holds that if you bury a bottle of unopened bourbon upside down one month prior to the wedding date, you will be married under clear skies.

Khrissy and Jason grew up in Clinton, North Carolina and plan to wed at Khrissy's uncle's home. They have strong Southern roots and plan to have a lot of fun details that show their love of family and tradition. On their wedding day, they plan to “unbury” the bottle to celebrate their love…. rain or shine.

Katie’s Classic Estate Bridal Portraits

Album story by Southernly Studios

I am just in love with Katie's classic style and Southern Belle personality! We went out to the Duncan Estate in Spartanburg, SC to capture these natural and beautiful bridal portraits! It was a warm Carolina summer day when we headed down to Spartanburg to meet up with the beautiful bride. Her dress was stunning and fit her shape perfectly. I'm a sucker for long flowing veils so I had to get a couple shots incorporating that! Everything about this estate says old Southern tradition, which is what I'm all about at Southernly Studios!
