Does that word scare you? Do you envision dollars flying out of your pocket never to return?
Advertising is critical for anyone in business. It is the best way to get the word out about your product or service. People aren’t going to find you.
“But people will tell other people about how fabulous I am.”
I’ve got a dose of reality for you. Word of mouth will only get you so far. In order to raise awareness and really brand yourself as a competitive company or industry…you have got to advertise.
Being fabulous is what keeps you in business, but advertising is what brings you the business in the first place.
Marketing research has proven that it takes people at least 6 times to see your brand to get it to stick.
Should you advertise? Well, let’s answer that.
Do you want people to pay you money for something?
Advertising is more than just clicks. You want people to see you and to remember you. You aren’t just raising awareness. You are also continuously trying to be more memorable than your competition.
Here are some key things you need to begin a successful advertising campaign: You need a clear picture of your target audience. You need money. You need a plan.
Your target audience. There is no point in going on if you have not identified your target audience. How else are you going to know where to spend your hard earned advertising budget? Identify who you are selling to. Take out a piece of paper and write down at least 50 things about your audience. Who are they? How do they feel? What do they need? Why would they buy your product? Understanding your audience will help you craft a multi-layered ad campaign to best compel your audience to buy from you.
Money. You don’t have to necessarily spend a lot of money. You need to spend it in wise places. Use your budget to create high quality artwork, photography, etc. Don’t pay a lot of money to put cheap visuals up. Create quality images and visuals to display to potential customers. Research your market and decide where your money will be best spent. This will be the first impression your potential clients will have. Make a few budgets. Have a realistic budget, but also create a dream budget. It’s good to grow into your advertising as you grow as a company.
The Plan. You know your audience. You have a budget. It’s time to craft your advertising strategy. Remember to use different approaches. Take advantage of free. Jump on social media opportunities as well as trying to trade services with advertising outlets. Write for local publications and link your business in the bio. Come up with a multi-pronged strategy to get the word out about your business. Keep your business on the forefront of people’s minds.
Remember, advertising is not just about clicks…it’s about branding your business in the minds of people in search of those goods and services.
